INTRODUCTION: How do I start my new life?
- Know this, that your new life started at the exact moment you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life.
You have already begun it and it will not stop for all eternity.
The bible says in Romans 10:17 "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God"
- When you asked Jesus into your life you acted in Faith.
Therefore at the time that you prayed that prayer to the Father asking Him to forgive your sin through the blood of Jesus, your new life began.Do I have to do anything?
- The answer here is simply, No!
The whole plan of salvation is God's agenda, not yours.
The Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9 ". . . . . God is not willing that any should perish, but that all men should be saved."
God, the Father, undertakes to lead you and purpose your life for you.
He said to us in His Word, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)
In Ephesians 1:4 we are told that "He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world" (Emphasis is mine)
- If he had planned your new life for you before the worlds were created, then you only have to let Him work in your life. It's His call not yours!
Conclusion Start by Letting God be God.
- One of the greatest problems that new Christians often have is that they think they owe God something and so try to do all sorts of things to please Him.
Let me tell you that when you called out to His Son for Salvation God was pleased with you.
You see, Salvation is an unconditional Gift from a father to His sons and daughters.
We have the story in Luke 1 of how, on the night the Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the angels were ascending and descending from heaven.
The message they were carrying was this "Peace on earth, Goodwill towards all men." Luke 2:14
- This message was given into the world because when Christ was born, there was a way for men to come back to God.
This was God's heart and plan and suddenly there was no antagonism or anger between God and His creation - mankind - that is you and me.
As true as that message was for the shepherds on the hills outside of Bethlehem it is still true for you today, 2000 years later.
Just as they could do nothing, so neither can you.
You see your life started in Christ the moment you made the choice.
So, how do you start your new life?
By letting God begin to change you into His plan for you. The bible says "We are being changed, from glory into glory" (2 Corinthians 3:18)
In other words we are becoming more and more like him.
- To begin to become more like God pray this now:
"Heavenly Father, I choose to let you lead me in my new life.
As I study your Word and pray to you I believe that You will lead me by your Holy Spirit into the plan you have for my life.
Amen."
