INTRODUCTION:

  1. For all of us there is the question. "If we are remade into the plan and purpose of God for us then there must be a number of changes.
    What are they?"

For some they are dramatic and swift while for others they are more gradual.
The thing to remember here is that you should not try to rush the process.
It is God who will make the difference, by His Spirit in your life.

  2. There are a number of changes that will start to take place.
Firstly, because you have left Satan's kingdom and entered God's there has to be the re-education to the Kingdom principles under which you live .
These are not rules and regulations.
Our God is a God of freedom.
As God begins the process you should watch out for the following changes:

Four ways people will change:

(i) You will begin wanting to have less to do with the old ways.

The things you used to find interesting will not be so any more.- Philippians 3:12-14
In fact it is a good plan to deliberately stay away from the old things that you know are not right. -2 Corinthians 5:17. tells us that when you are saved we are changed and the old ways disappear and the new
ways of God start to be part of your life.
If you have a problem with drugs, then you should not continue with them but try to break the habit, ask God, through prayer to help you.
As you purpose to do this God will give you the strength. -1 Peter 5:6-10.
Some of your old friends will not want to have as much to do with you.
In fact they will start to notice the difference in you probably before you do.

(ii) You will want to spend more time with God.

You will do this by spending time in prayer and reading God's word. -Ephesians 6:18 and 2Timothy 3:16
Praying is not some great mystery as many people think it is. If you want to see how Jesus taught his disciples to pray you can find it in -Matthew 6:9-13.
As you study the form of the prayer you will find that it is really just talking to someone close by.
This is how you talk to God.
Remember He is your Father and you are His child and your right of access is just the same as that of any child who has come to ask their kind and good father for something.- Matthew 7:11)
Praying is actually just talking to God as you would in a conversation.
You should also spend time each day reading God's Word.
Find someone who will help you understand the bible stories and messages.
They are not some great hidden secret, they are everyday practical instruction and guidance in how to live and get the best out of life.

(iii) You will want to serve God more.

This is quite normal and you should look out for this.
Talk to someone whom you trust and who can help you, your Pastor, the one who led you to the Lord, your Life Group leader or contact us by using the comment section in the question section or clicking here.
Each child of God has a call upon their life from God.
God wants everyone in His Kingdom involved in ministry.- Luke 10:1-12
You are no exception.
So get into it and enjoy it.
It really is an exciting life and full of fun and new adventure.

(iv) You will need to find a GOOD church.

  1. Every child of God needs to worship with other Christians if possible. Hebrews 10:25 tells us not to forsake the gathering of ourselves together. This is the main reason why you need to find a good bible based church; the other reason is to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ.
When the church meets for services they are coming to worship God in a corporate manner, it is the people of God uniting to worship Him.

  2. When the church meets they will almost always have music, praise and worship. Ephesians 5:19,Colossians 3:16 and Revelation 5:19.
These songs have been written to encourage and inspire you to come to the Lord in worship. They are a source of uplifting the soul. Learn them and sing them over and over to yourself even while you are not in church.

  3. There will also be a time of encouragement bible teaching. This is important because it is through the teaching that you grow in understanding and maturity in the things of God's Word.

  4. Become a part of a good local church in your area. Make sure God is held in high esteem and that the Word is preached faithfully. Support the church and it's leaders because God has put them there to teach and lead you in your walk with the Lord.

CONCLUSION:

  1. As a new Christian, you have made the greatest decision of your life. You have confessed your sin and asked the Father to forgive you because of the sacrifice Jesus made for you. This a wonderful step and one which pleases God and He now wants to develop you as a unique son or daughter of His.

  2. Take time to allow the Spirit of God to change you. Spend more time with God and study His Word.

  3. Find a good bible based church. This is very important because it is with other Christians that you will grow and learn more quickly.

Pray this Prayer of Commitment:
"Heavenly Father,
I choose to become involved in the life you have called me to lead.
I believe that you have a good work for me to do.
Please show it to me so that I may serve you.
Amen."
