Are you ‘Thanks Living’? (“Grateful” #3) | Dr. Larry Baucom | November 19, 2023

Dr. Larry Baucom continues the series called “Grateful”, where we are reminded to pause and remember that life is a gift. This holiday season, let’s be grateful for what we do have.

How can you make what you are thankful for a lifestyle, and not just a list?

Philippians 4:4-7

Point 1: Thanksgiving is a time for reflection.

Giving thanks for all things (the good, bad, and mundane) is a great practice, especially this time of year. Look back on your life and see how far you’ve come from where you started – pause and feel the gratitude.

Point 2: Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude.

God has always been with you – sometimes you don’t see it or know it in the moment – but it’s true, and it’s something we can be grateful for.

Remember to say “thank you” to God. Find things to be thankful for and say them out loud. Life is a gift. If you are ungrateful and entitled, you will miss out of the goodness of life – be careful to not fall into the tempting trap of “I deserve…”.

Point 3: Thanksgiving can become Thanks living.

Thanksgiving is not just a day, it is a lifestyle. How can you make that true for the next year? Maybe a great place to start is by complaining less. When we have major problems, our petty complaints seem to fade away – that perspective shift can happen when we choose to look for the good instead of the bad (no major problems necessary). You can start a better, more positive and content life today – begin by saying “thank you God”.
