Level Up Your Gratitude (“Grateful” #2)

Level Up Your Gratitude (“Grateful” #2) | Dr. Troy Doucet | November 12, 2023

Dr. Troy Doucet continues the series called “Grateful”, where we are reminded to pause and remember that life is a gift. This holiday season, let’s be grateful for what we do have.

How often do you live at “ground level” grateful? Have you ever reached “boldness” levels of gratefulness?

When things are going good in life, it’s easy to be grateful – less so when things are difficult. However, we can change our perspective to see each scenario we are faced with as a gift, a lesson, an opportunity to practice gratitude no matter what. When you are unshakable in this belief, in this mindset of being thankful and grateful on purpose – you will be unstoppable.

When we are unhappy, angry, or envious, we often desire a change. But external changes (new car, house, etc.) almost never changes your internal state. Your thoughts dictate how you see the world. If you want to change what the outside looks like, start from the inside. Start being grateful for your life because most likely, you are living what someone else wishes they could live. Do not let negativity be your new normal. Do not follow the runaway, worst case scenario thought trails.

Luke 17:11-19

Point 1: Gratefulness is a daily process where I praise God not only for what I have, but for who I am.

Who you are is more important than what you’ve done.

Point 2: Gratitude is a spiritually mature attitude that expresses thankfulness even though I don’t know God’s plan or purpose.

Having an “even though” attitude is what leads to authentic gratitude. Have so much Heaven in you that the Hell that surrounds you cannot make a difference.

Point 3: Sometimes we experience God’s grace in exact proportion to our gratefulness.

This week, try being grateful on purpose – and see how that changes your life.
