Others Will Find Hope Because We Have Been Faithful (Dreamers & Schemers #5) | Dr. Larry Baucom, Dr. Troy Doucet

The story of Joseph illustrates how the schemes against him by his brothers and Potiphar’s wife ultimately failed. God’s hand guided Joseph’s path from slavery and prison to leadership in Egypt, where his God-given wisdom saved countless lives.

1. When we honor God with our hearts, our dreams, and our actions, the results are significant.

Joseph’s life illustrates how honoring God leads to significant results. At 17, Joseph was a dreamer stripped of his robe of honor. At 30, after 13 hard years of betrayal, slavery, and prison, he was clothed in Pharaoh’s robe of authority. Through it all, Joseph trusted God and remained faithful. Even in suffering, he saw God’s hand at work, naming his sons Manasseh (“God made me forget my troubles”) and Ephraim (“God made me fruitful in suffering”). His life reminds us to recognize the seeds of blessing God plants daily, no matter our circumstances.

2. Honor God with good stewardship of life and resources.

Joseph’s wisdom in saving during years of abundance sustained Egypt and the surrounding nations through famine. His example teaches timeless principles:

  • Do not spend all you make.

  • Save for the future.

  • Live generously and wisely.

A practical model: Give 10%, Save 10%, Live on 80%. This balance honors God, prepares for hardship, and keeps our hearts from being ruled by materialism.

3. Others will find hope because we have been faithful.

Because Joseph was faithful, others were fed, sustained, and given hope, including the very brothers who once betrayed him. Likewise, when we live faithfully and steward resources wisely, others see God’s hope through us. True hope is not in possessions or the economy but in God’s presence with us.

Hope multiplies when we “load up on the good stuff”: the love of God, the ability to love others, and the assurance that God cares for our hurts. Just as Joseph’s life became a channel of blessing, so too can ours bring hope to a hurting world.
