Pull the tooth | Practical Prescription #2 | Dr. Troy Doucet | April 23, 2023

Dr. Troy Doucet talks about taking responsibility to respond and remove the things that are harming and hindering us from living the life God intended for us. Healthy people remove toxic things from their lives; be a healthy person.

Colossians 3:1-14 (Set your hearts on things above…)

Sometimes the things that hurt us are from things we allow as “normal” or “fine” – things that are not what is best for us. Sometimes the things that hurt us are from our own doing – we blame everything else but forget our own choices that brought us to a place we regret.

If you do not transform your pain, you will transmit it. Be responsible for where you are and how you got there. Sometimes we need to change the situation, or change our minds about the situation – especially if it is toxic.

The biggest obstacle to living a great life, is settling for a good one. Sometimes you must pull it (remove the negative from your life); other times you need to fix it. Do the hard work to fix the things that are worth keeping.

God gives us courage in the face of our greatest challenge (the things we need to change).

At Suncoast, we try as hard as we can to follow Jesus – when it comes to theology, we do not want to simply tear down the misunderstood or harmful parts (pull the tooth), we want to rebuild and find freedom instead of fear (fix the tooth).
