Schemers Are Those Who Sidetrack Dreamers (Dreamers & Schemers #3) | Dr. Larry Baucom, Dr. Troy Doucet | September 7, 2025
In this third message of the series, Dr. Baucom and Dr. Doucet explore Joseph’s story in Genesis 39, showing how God’s purposes for dreamers continue even in the midst of betrayal, temptation, and hardship.
-
Dreamers Prosper Despite Circumstances
Joseph, though sold into slavery and stripped of his father’s favor, prospered in Potiphar’s household because “the Lord was with him.” Despite losing his robe, position, and freedom, Joseph lived out the identity of being God’s favored child. In the same way, believers are called to rise above circumstances and live up to the dignity God has spoken over them.
-
Schemers Attempt to Sidetrack Dreamers
Potiphar’s wife represents the schemers who try to derail God’s plans through temptation, seduction, and distraction. When she falsely accused Joseph, he lost another robe, but this time he kept his integrity. The lesson: honor is not found in what we wear or what position we hold, but in the character and faithfulness of our lives before God.
-
When Life Strips Away, God Realigns Our Values
Joseph’s repeated losses—robe, freedom, reputation—could have crushed him, yet God used these trials to deepen his dependence and refine his values. True greatness is not wealth or power but servanthood, love, and grace. Even in prison, Joseph found favor because he remembered who he was: a child of God.
Closing Thought:
Dreamers endure setbacks, betrayals, and false accusations, but the dream is never extinguished. God is present in every circumstance, realigning values and sustaining hope. Just as Joseph remained faithful, we too are called to live as God’s beloved, holding onto the dream no matter what robes we may lose along the way.
