What is the cost of comparison?
Romans 12: 1-2
What does it mean to be a church that studies and follows the teachings of Jesus? Where is the Kingdom of Heaven – out there? Or in us? Some people believe that Heaven is a place you go when you die, that you can earn your way in. This way of thinking brings about feelings of comparison (they aren’t going to Heaven because they did that, at least I’m not one of those people…etc.).
- Comparing yourself to the things around you will keep you from experiencing the Kingdom within you.
Comparison brings about feelings of insignificance and doubt – it can make us “perform” how we think we should be. But, when we know our purpose, we can feel confident in what we know is true about ourselves.
- Don’t let the pressure of comparison get in the way of personal transformation.
In our worst moments, in our failures, we can know that God still sees us as His beloved children. Our transformation is more important than our inevitable faults.
- Be careful what you’re trying to copy from culture if you have no clue what copying culture will cost you.
What is happening right before and right after those pictures you see on instagram? Are you comparing yourself to a life that is actually not worth it behind the scenes? Do not copy and paste, compare, or perform a life that isn’t yours, that isn’t made for you, that may not even be real. Allow God to transform you, and keep your heart in a place of authenticity and truth.
